Notable Quotes: Pedro Martinez

"Willie's decision was correct. It will always be the correct decision. He who has the power will always be correct. Don't ever forget that."

-Pitcher Pedro Martinez of the New York Mets on Manager Willie Randolph's decision to pull Pedro after only six innings of work and almost leading to what would have been a costly loss for the Mets

This quote actually fits in with my series. All I can say about right now it is that it wasn't people like Pedro who lead the Revolution, a topic I will soon touch on.

I have no opinions on Pedro Martinez one way or another, but I was at that game. It was Hispanic Heritage Night, and two Dominican artists/groups were playing after the game -- Aventura and Frank Reyes. The concert didn't get under way until at least 11:30. Pedro Martinez came out during the concert, dressed in jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt. The crowd -- almost all Dominican -- went wild as Pedro danced, applauded the artists, and just generally hung out. They offered him the mike, and he refused. He could easily have stolen the spotlight from the artists, but he didn't.

Was Pedro's "personal midget" Melson with him dancing?

Petey is better served in National League where he only has to face 7 batters a night (find me a #8 hitter as good as Bill Mueller or Bernie Williams in the NL, and then you have the pitcher who usually hits in the .100 ballpark, which is still better than Mark Bellhorn)

He will pay huge dividends for the Mets this year and next. After that is anyone's guess.
